On Sunday, January 12,2020, Dale Annette Meyers was called home to be with the Lord. He welcomed her with open arms.
Dale was born in New York City on May 20, 1956, to Mrs. Bernice Meyers and the late Mr. Alonzo Meyers. She was one of seven girls. She met her life partner Kenneth Clark and they raised one Daughter, Layier, her baby girl. She also helped raise her grandchildren Kapri, Klever, and Kevvyn-Patricia.
Dale received her formal education at Stuyvesant High School. She always had a passion for taking care of children. After graduating from High School, she became a full-time child care provider. Shortly after realizing this was her life purpose, she started her own child care business. Dale loved the Lord and accepted Christ at an early age. She was a former member of the Greater Metropolitan Baptist Church and sang in the church choir.
Dale was known to cook her famous red rice and was always the life of the party at all family gatherings. Once Dale arrived we knew it was “standup comedy time”. She had a story for everything and would sometimes break out in song right in the middle of one. Everyone who knew Dale knew her world revolved around her daughter and her grandchildren. Dale was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and a great friend. She will be forever missed.
Dale is survived by her lifetime partner Kenneth Clark; devoted daughter Layier Meyers Her first granddaughter Kapri Cabral, her “Cece” her second love; one grandson Klever Cabral,” “grandmas boy”; her youngest granddaughter Kevvyn-Patricia who never stops saying grandma; her mother Mrs. Bernice Meyers, six sisters, Penelope Gardner (Joe) of Columbia, SC; Cynthia Walker (Vernon) of Hampton, VA; Debra Richardson of Charleston, SC; Elaine Richardson, twin sister, Gale Meyers Lockhart and Charlene Meyers (Sherod) of New York City; one aunt, Dorothy Scott (Mickey); one uncle, Harrison Richardson; Thomas Lockhart Jr nephew(but more like a son); Takisha Barone, niece; Aaron Lockhart, nephew; Deshawn Powell, nephew; LaToya Green, niece; Erica Green, niece; and Jasmine Dempsey niece; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever miss her presence but will carry on her spirit.
